Japan Society for the Promotion of Science-JSPS: borse di studio in Giappone

Programma 2015-2016 per l'accesso alle borse di studio offerte dalla Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).

Le borse di studio per ricercatori stranieri offerte dalla Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) vengono concesse attraverso partenariati tra il Giappone e i Paesi destinatari dei programmi e riguardano le scienze umanistiche, sociali e naturali.

Nel caso dell'Italia, il Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca (MIUR) rappresenta l'amministrazione di riferimento del programma, la cosiddetta Nominating Authority, che ha il compito di assicurare ed accrescere l'interesse dei ricercatori altamente qualificati verso le borse offerte dalla JSPS.

Per il biennio 2015-2016 a disposizione ci sono:

• 4 borse per il JSPS Invitation Fellowship Programs, di cui:
  - 3 Short-term Invitation Fellowships (da 14 a 60 giorni);
  - 1 Long-term Invitation Fellowships (da 2 a 10 mesi).
• 8 borse per il JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (da 12 a 24 mesi).

JSPS Invitation Fellowship Programs

Invitation Fellowships (Long-term)

As a rule, researchers who hold a full-time position in a research institution and satisfy the following requirements:

• Possess either the nationality or citizenship of the nominating country or be a permanent resident of that country;
• Researchers who do not meet above-mentioned nationality/citizenship requirement but have resided and had substantial professional research experience in the nominating country for a period of more than ten years as of 1 April 2015;
• Be a researcher in a position equivalent to a university professor, associate professor or assistant professor in Japan as of 1 April 2015;
• Researchers who do not have above-mentioned careers but received their doctorate degree prior to six years or more as of 1 April 2015 and are continuing to do research in a university or non-profit research institution.

Invitation Fellowships (Short-term)

As a rule, researchers who hold full-time positions in a research institution and satisfy the following requirements:

• Possess either the nationality or citizenship of the nominating country or be a permanent resident of that country;
• Researchers who do not meet above-mentioned nationality/citizenship requirement but have resided and had substantial professional research experience in the nominating country for a period of more than ten years as of 1 April 2015;
• Be a researcher in a position equivalent to a university professor or associate professor as of 1 April 2015;
• Researchers with an excellent record of research achievements.

JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

Each candidate for the Fellowship must:

• Possess either the nationality or citizenship of the nominating country or be a permanent resident of that country;
• Hold a doctorate degree when the Fellowship goes into effect, which must have been received within six years prior to April 1, 2015 (i.e. awarded on or after April 2, 2009), or be scheduled to receive a doctorate degree before the Fellowship goes into effec;
• Have arranged in advance a research plan with his/her Japanese host.

Le borse di studio comprendono:

Invitation Fellowships (Long-term)

Terms of Award (Fellows only):

• A round-trip air ticket in kind (based on JSPS’s regulations)
• A monthly maintenance allowance of 369,000 yen
• Domestic research trip allowance of 100,000 yen
• Research expenses of 40,000 yen
• Overseas travel insurance

Invitation Fellowships (Short-term)

Terms of Award (Fellows only):

• A round-trip air ticket in kind (based on JSPS’s regulations)
• A daily maintenance allowance of 18,000 yen
• Domestic research trip allowance of 150,000 yen
• Overseas travel insurance

Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

Terms of Award (Fellows only):

• A round-trip air ticket (based on JSPS regulations)
• A monthly maintenance allowance of 362,000 yen.
• A settling-in allowance of 200,000 yen
• Overseas travel accident and sickness insurance coverage

Le candidature devono essere presentate, entro le ore 16.00 (CET) del 6 marzo 2015, al MIUR, che provvederà all'inoltro in Giappone.

INVITATION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Le candidature possono essere predisposte esclusivamente collegandosi al sito http://www.jsps.go.jp/english/e-inv/table_02.html e procedendo alla compilazione on-line in due fasi dei FORM 1 e FORM2. Entrambi i Form compilati in formato PDF dovranno successivamente essere trasmessi al MIUR via e-mail in formato elettronico, insieme agli allegati richiesti.

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Occorre scaricare e compilare l’Application Form disponibile sul sito del Ministero (JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships FY2015_Application Form.rtf) e restituirlo compilato e completo degli allegati richiesti via e-mail al MIUR.

I ricercatori italiani interessati devono concordare preventivamente con il ricercatore giapponese ospitante il programma di ricerca, la durata e la decorrenza della borsa e ottenere una lettera formale di accettazione presso l’istituzione giapponese di accoglienza.

Nel definire con il partner giapponese la data proposta per la decorrenza della borsa da indicare sull'Application Form occorre tener conto del fatto che per processare le candidature (eventuale pre-selezione a livello nazionale, trasmissione in Giappone delle domande pre-selezionate e valutazione finale da parte della JSPS) sono mediamente necessari da 3 a 4 mesi.
